Make Money Online But Spend Wisely
If you want to make money online, you are going to have to spend some money. That’s just the way it is if you want to earn income doing anything that doesn’t involve a regular, 9-5 job. If you’re going to start your own business so you can work online from home, a few expenses are going to be necessary. That’s true no matter if you’re a complete newbie or an experienced marketer. There are just some fixed costs that go along with any online business, as well as some additional expenses that are going to pop up from time to time.
The fixed expenses are going to include such things as Internet access, as well as Web hosting fees, domain names, and the occasional software product or plugin for your Website. If you’re smart, though, you’ll try to limit your expenses, especially when you’re just starting out. That can be hard for newbies, because when you’re first starting out, you’ll likely be spending time in marketing forums, such as the Warrior forum, and you’ll likely end up on the mailing lists of a number of marketers.
There’s nothing wrong with being on a mailing list or joining a forum; you’ll learn a lot of things from both sources. The problem with forums and mailing lists is that you’re going to be bombarded with software programs, training courses, multilevel marketing programs and more than everyone is going to tell you are “must have” products that are necessary to your success.
Make Money Online? Not With These
If you’re a newbie, it can be hard to make the distinction between courses and programs that are genuine, “must-have” items and those that are simply there to make a lot of money for other people. That’s particularly true of MLM products, as many of the multilevel marketing programs that are discussed on forums sound pretty appealing but are also deceptively expensive. One program that is drawing a lot of attention these days is a program called “MOBE” or “My Online Business Education.” It’s also known as “My Online Business Empire” as they keep changing the name. It sounds promising, and gives you the impression that you’re going to learn a lot about making money online, and you’ll have lots of people talking about the huge commissions they earn (up to $10,000) while pointing out that the training course only costs $49 to join.
It does cost $49 to join, but then you’ll soon be getting regular phone calls from the program, recommending that you “upgrade” your membership so you can earn the big commissions. A full set of upgrades to MOBE costs nearly $40,000 and in order to make any money, you have to recruit other people to the program who are also willing to spend that kind of money. It’s easy to get caught up in it if you’re a newbie, but those who are new to affiliate marketing are the last people who are likely to make any money with MOBE. That’s because it’s a complex and expensive system.
But it’s easy to be swayed by all the talk of the big money you’ll be making, and everyone will tell you that it’s worth the money. There are lots of other programs that are similar; you’ll be told that it’s essential that you join some membership site for $67 per month if you want to make money online.
For a lot of people, $67 per month, especially if they’re just starting out, is a lot of money. That will pay for a couple of domain names as well as several months of hosting. There are few membership products out there that are going to provide any real value, especially to newbies. For more experienced marketers, it’s possible that such sites may have a bit of value, as one new tip or suggestion can make a big difference for an established business. For newbies, however, there’s a lot to learn and spending a lot of money to learn it just doesn’t make good financial or business sense, especially when the bulk of what you need to learn to get started in trying to make money online can be learned for free.
Other products that can easily persuade you to spend money are software programs and systems that promise to show you how to make a lot of money. I must see a half a dozen products a week that say things like “Just buy this software and it will spit out cash like a broken slot machine” or “See how we made $112,246.99 in just 24 hours.” They’ll tell you that you can buy in now for just $27…if you hurry. Why would someone sell something that earned that kind of money so cheaply?
Usually, there are two reasons:
1. It used to work, but doesn’t anymore, so rather than use the system to make money, the vendor is selling the system to make money
2. You’ll agree to buy the product, only to discover that there are additional products you must buy (called upsells) in order to get full functionality of the product.
These sorts of offers are common and they’re distracting. 99% of them don’t work, but they will all do one thing in common – take a lot of your money that you could be spending more wisely on other things that are essential, such as Web hosting and advertising. If you’re just starting out, you can’t be distracted by every shiny object that promises to make you rich overnight. You’re not going to become wealthy overnight, or perhaps ever, by attempting to make money online. If you play your cards right, you can earn a living. For most of us, that’s good enough.
