Making Money – 5 Reasons It’s Not Working
The entire point of this blog is to help people learn about making money online. It’s not necessarily easy to do, but once you get a taste of success, you’ll realize that it can be a lot of fun and it’s usually more interesting to work from home than to work at some job you hate. Still, a lot of people struggle to earn that first dollar, and some people never get that far. The reasons vary, and there could be a thousand reasons why any single individual isn’t succeeding in Internet marketing.
Although it’s hard to generalize, as we’re all different, there are a handful of reasons why most people who fail to succeed in making money online are failing. There are some common problems that affect a lot of people in this industry, and if you’re struggling to earn that first dollar, you might want to look over the following list and see if any of these problems might apply to you. If so, they can be fixed, and perhaps you’ll soon be on your way to seeing some success in affiliate marketing or whatever other method you’re using.
Not Making Money?
Even under the best of circumstances, you’re going to have some days that are better than others. The best affiliate marketers have a broad spectrum of products across a wide range of prices, which allows the days to even out so they’ll be making money most of the time. Still, if you’re just getting started and nothing seems to be working, there might be a few common reasons for that. Let’s take a look at the 5 most common reasons why you might not be making money.
You’re looking for short cuts – There are a lot of people out there who suggest that it’s possible to be making money online without doing any work. There’s lots of talk about making money on “autopilot” or making money “in your sleep” and the people who sell such methods usually do pretty well for themselves. The truth, however, is that making money online is a job, and you’re going to have to accept the fact that this job requires a tremendous investment in time and effort. It’s true that once you get your system set up, you can get to a point where you make sales without hands-on involvement, but nobody, and I mean nobody, starts out that way. If you want to succeed online, you’re going to have to be prepared to put a lot of effort into it.
Wasting time and money on poor products – There’s no shortage of products in the “get rich quick” niche, and lots of people fall for those, thinking that they’ll buy a product today and be making money to morrow. Among them are the many survey or paid news sites out there that promise you a lot of money for doing little or no work, or at the other end of the spectrum, there are the big multilevel marketing programs that promise you’ll be making money by the truckload if you just buy in for a lot of cash. These programs waste both your time and your money and you’re not going to profit from them. If you want to get serious about being successful, then you need to avoid the scams and go with a way to make money that’s been proven to work.
Giving up – As I mentioned, becoming a successful online entrepreneur takes time and effort, and you’d be surprised at how long it can take to start getting steady traffic to your Website, particularly if you’re not paying for traffic. It can take months or even longer than a year of steadily adding content to your site and making the effort to make sure that people know about your site and what it can offer them. A lot of people fail to realize just how long it can take and they give up too soon. On this site, I simply committed myself, from day one, to add at least one page of content every day. In time, it adds up, and now the site has several hundred pages and blog posts. In another year, the site will likely have 500 pages or more. The search engines love sites with deep, rich, content, and eventually, you’ll see results from that. A lot of people never get that far, however, because they quit right when they were about to succeed.
It’s not for you – Admittedly, some people simply aren’t suited to making money online. There are a number of reasons for that, including the fact that it’s a fairly complicated thing to do and it does require at least some degree of computer knowledge. Building Websites, setting up Web hosting and setting up an autoresponder are a big part of the process, and it’s simply not something that will work for everyone. In the end, only you can decide if making money online is for you, but by all means, take the time to put in the effort and learn about what needs to be done. You’ll know soon enough if it’s something you can do successfully in the long term.
Unprofitable niches – Sometimes, though it’s rare, people simply choose their niches poorly. It could be that the niche they’ve chosen is one in which there’s little overall interest, which suggests that your niche is perhaps a bit too narrow. Other people make the big mistake of choosing a niche that’s either too broad, or one that’s too competitive. If you’re just starting out, for instance, jumping into the payday loan niche is probably not a good idea, since there are tens of thousands of sites in that niche and many of them are run by people who have been in Internet marketing for a decade or more. It’s not that you can’t be making money in that niche, but that it’s a really difficult place to start. While most niches can be profitable, it’s important to find the right balance between one that’s profitable but not one that’s too competitive.
